Family & Lifestyle Photographer - Rochester & Twin Cities, Minnesota
I like to keep things simple, so all of my sessions include the session time, custom location, styling tips, convenient online gallery and all edited images available to download and ready to print! Once a year I offer mini-session dates in both the Twin Cities and Rochester areas.
- What should we wear?
-
Have fun with it! If I were styling my own family for a session, we would dress as a slightly “amped up” version of ourselves - adding cute shoes, accessories and layers. What’s most important is that you feel great and your unique personalities shine.
Some tips:
- Pick colors and styles that flatter you. I recommend trying on outfits ahead of time to make sure they fit well and you feel great!
- Avoid fabrics that wrinkle, straps that need a lot of adjusting, and distracting logos.
- Texture, layers, and some patterns are key! However, avoid especially small “tight” patterns.
- Skip the matching black shirts. :) Outfits should flow and complement each other without matching.
- Consider the location for your photoshoot, and think about how your outfits will look and feel in that setting.
- Remember good shoes, especially on your kids, are important details.
- Will you travel for my session?
-
I do offer family sessions in the Twin Cities and beyond, with a small travel fee starting from a 30 mile radius from my home in Rochester.
- What location do you recommend?
-
Family sessions include a custom setting, so you get to choose! While I’m always up for exploring a new place, I am well versed in lots of different locations with a variety of aesthetics in both the Twin Cities and Rochester areas. Each brings a unique feel and may look different through the year. We’ll discuss your preferences beforehand and select a location you are excited about.
Outdoor locations are pretty, but I also appreciate the sentiment and uniqueness of in-home lifestyle sessions.
- Do you have a studio?
-
I do not currently have an indoor studio, so all of my photoshoots are held either outside or in an indoor place such as your home.
- What time of day works best?
-
I schedule sessions in order of these priorities: when kids are happiest, during the best lighting. If the sun is out I love golden hour, which means starting about two hours prior to sunset. However, if this time is pushing kid's bedtime (especially summertime when the sunset is later) we will start earlier so kids are happiest.
Ultimately we can make beautiful images any time of day, but I like to try for my favorite golden lighting if at all possible.
- Can we include the dog?
-
Yes! Your pet is part of the family, and our furry friends always add a some extra cuteness. :)
