Where are you located?
I am a wedding/event/portrait photographer located out of the Twin Cities, MN…. I also love to travel and experience new things, so I’m always up for a destination wedding!
Couples getting married - what can you expect on our first meeting?
I understand that finding a wedding photographer is a huge investment and decision! Your choice is influenced by many factors like budget, style, personality, and what packages are offered. So when we meet, I want to not only tell you about who I am, how I work, and what I can offer, but I also want to learn about who you are as a couple, your style, and what is most important to you. I want to make sure that each relationship I have with my clients is a good fit!
What does it mean to have ownership of my photographs
With all of my clients I provide a DVD or CD with full resolution .jpg files and reproduction rights to those photographs. You can make your own prints for personal use, post them on facebook, etc.
On the flip side, I keep rights to my photos, so your beautiful selves may end up on my blog, portfolio, or business card!
What’s a magazine proof book?
It’s basically a paper version of an online proof gallery. It’s a nice way to easily flip through and show off all of your photographs - especially for someone who may not have internet access to view your online gallery. Also - each image in the proof book is labeled with the image name, so it makes locating a certain image on your discs easier!
How does an engagement or portrait session work?
Portrait sessions typically take 1.5 - 2 hours. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere where we really just get to hang out, have some fun, and make some beautiful pictures! While I always have a list of locations to suggest, I’m always open to going somewhere new. What’s most important to me is that the location is either significant to you or is a place that describes your personality. What outfit you wear is completely up to you!
What should we wear to our session?
My advice is to coordinate and not match… lay the outfits next to each other and make sure that none of the colors clash. I would also avoid large logos and text. My main suggestion is that your outfits truly describe who you are! If you are more relaxed, dress casual! If you like to dress up- go ahead! Ultimately outfit choice is up to you.

What is your backup strategy?
Before I started shooting weddings professionally, I was as a computer programmer and apple computer technician… it may seem completely unrelated to photography, but I have to say, that techie background has come in handy! I catch on the technical side of workflow pretty fast, and place lots and lots of care and effort into ensuring I take the best care of my digital files. Here is my process: Immediately after returning from an event, I copy all data off of my CF cards into a folder on my iMac. After all of my cards have been copied, I create two backups sets of RAW files - one set kept onsite, the other moved to an off-site location (in the case that my workspace burns down or is flooded or something equally sad). I do not erase my CF cards until multiple backups are taken care of, and I have ensured all off my photographs are organized and ready to edit!
Would you consider traveling for our wedding?
Absolutely! I love to travel and experience new things… (especially if it takes me out of Minnesota in the cold winter!) ;) If you are considering a destination wedding, feel free to send me an email or phone call.
What if a photography permit or fee is required for the location we request?
Clients are responsible to obtain any permits and cover any fees required for the shoot, if the requested location requires it.
