Jeff + Kristen - wedding

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I was so excited for Jeff and Kristen’s wedding!  It was the highest form of compliment to be invited to photograph this one, as Jeff is Jackie Boldt’s brother.  Jackie hired me as an associate a couple of years ago, and without her encouragement and teaching, I wouldn’t be here!  Anyway - to have her and her family’s trust and support to be a part of this day was incredibly humbling and such a compliment.  PS - check out some of Jackie’s pics from this wedding.

Jeff and Kristen were married at St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis.

Jackie’s son, Nicholas, was the ring bearer, and I believe is one of the cutest kids ever.  I was so looking forward to seeing Nick in a little tux!!

How does it feel to be on the other side of the lens, Jackie? ;)

… a sweet moment between Jeff and his mother.

Some portraits of the very lovely Kristen.  :)

Jeff had, hands down, the greatest reaction I’ve ever seen of a groom when seeing his bride walk down the aisle.  He lost it - and I had to try real hard to keep it together myself.  Even when editing these pictures for the first time admittedly I got choked up again.  I’m glad I caught these - so Kristen has a chance to see this reaction from as close up as I did.

This church is absolutely gorgeous.

This is my 2nd Greek Orthodox wedding, and I love them.  They are quite beautiful - filled with rich tradition, which gives me plenty to photograph. :)

I love this shot. :)

A few quick portraits after the ceremony…

Bustling the dress!

I call this shot, “Jeff’s red carpet shot.”

jkblog-42

These two are so very much in love- and anyone who spends just a little time with them can see it.

The slideshow had some hilarious video clips of Jeff as a kid!

This was brilliant.  Jackie had some saved iChat conversations she had with Jeff when Jeff first started dating Kristin.  Her and Mike (her husband) read each part (Mike’s wig = Jeff’s red hair).

This crew really knew how to party (I’ve never seen so many people on the dance floor for such a long time.  It was great!)

I love Michael Jackson’s music, and was pretty excited to get this Thriller shot. :)

Thank you so much Jeff and Kristin - I had a blast!!!

Jason + Rachael

Monday, January 25th, 2010

A week ago I was honored to join Jason and Rachael and photograph their wedding.  It was a beautiful day, with two of the nicest people you will ever meet (seriously.  I’ll prove it later on!)

A few quick shots of the guys….

… and now the ladies turn!

Rachael looked stunning.  For a January wedding - you never know what you’re going to get light/weather wise.  We had wanted to go outside, and while the light was good and it was actually warm (well ok, a relative term) it was so wet we stayed indoors.   But we made it work!

Shot at F 1.2.  I love getting 1.2 shots. :)

Don’t ask me why, but I love elevator shots. :)

Bokeh = automatic neat shot.

Some sweet moments between Rachael and her grandparents during the receiving line….

Across the hall for some dessert and fellowship.  Remember how I said I’d prove how nice these two are?  Well, the head table had some espresso cremé filled cake, made specially for just for the bridal party (everyone else got to snack on the other yummy desserts).  As I was walking by, Rachael said “Try this!”  I’m all like - from your own piece of wedding cake?  Seriously?  So I did, and it was awesome.  The bride gave me a bite of her very own slice of specially made wedding cake.  It’s truly a moment I’ll never forget, and a reminder of why I love this job.

… and this is the most amazing picture I’ve ever taken.  hahah.  Just kidding!  This is my plate.  Notice the celery… apparently in my mind, having a stick of celery negates the 6 - 8 cream puffs I ate throughout the evening. :)

At the very end of the evening, the bridal party braved the cold and we went to the hocky rink next door for some pictures.  Tricky - taking pictures while standing on ice….  but I think we all made it out there without falling!

And what I call the “grand finale shot.  The epic kiss at the end of a romance movie shot.”  Good job you two. :)

I was playing around and tinted them slightly blue.  I never usually do that, but like it in these shots.

Thank you SO SO much Jason and Rachael.  I’m a delighted person and photographer for having met you two!

Marc, Sara Beth, and Evangeline

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I’m often asked if I have a studio, and for now it’s not a direction I’m taking my business.  Being that we are in Minnesota, the next question is, “so do you do family sessions in the winter?”  Yep!  All we need is a room with some nice diffused window lighting, and below is an example of what we can do!

This is Marc, Sarah Beth, and little Evangeline- who just turned one!  Marc was an RA in my dorm Freshmen year of college (yea Edgren!)  It’s so neat (and a little surreal) to see my high school and college friends starting to have kids.  :)

Here are some of my favorites from the day….

Curly hair + blue eyes = adorable!!

aune-14

Reading a very exciting and dramatic novel about a snowman. :)

I love this little outfit!  Evangeline’s birthday part was safari themed.

aune-52aune-54

I call this one her high fashion portrait (she’s giving us “magnum”).

aune-58aune-46

Both of her parents are musically gifted, so I thought these shots were fitting. :)

Outside for a couple of quick shots….

I admit - this last one is my favorite shot of the day.  Any photograph that makes me go (AwwwWWwww!) out loud means that I’ve done my job. :)
