Girl Power.

I was asked by Tara to photograph the girls in her Breck summer class, Girl Power! It’s focus is on building self-esteem, and helps to answer questions about body image, boys, and all of that other stuff I worried about when I was a teenager! Such a fun group. I walked into the classroom before the shoot and they were all getting their hair and makeup done, and reading fashion magazines. I wish I could take this class!
It’s fun for me to see how individual personalities come out in each portrait.

Strike a pose, girls! :)

Each of the girls were asked to bring something that represents them….

One of my fav’s from the day, I think!

This sounds cliché but find out who you are, what you really love, and go for it. Keep your head up, pursure what you love, and don’t let anybody tell you differently. I was always the weird, nerdy, artsy kid in school and never thought I fit in. For so long I tried to have the image of someone I thought would be more popular… it wasn’t until after college that I realized being someone else wasn’t working, and I have since been growing in a confidence of who I really am. I decided to use those “werid artsy kid” skills and picked up a camera one day. Now I’m a photographer, and it feels so right. I feel as if I’ve finally found what it is I was meant to do, and I can only hope that all of you find it, and run after it.
With that said -thanks for hanging out with me girls. You rock!
