Alison & Geoff - 2 year anniversary

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

And this is what it’s all about.  I photograph a lot of weddings…. and it’s so awesome to celebrate couples starting a life together.  I think it’s equally important to continue celebrating and growing marriages well after that day.  Alison and Geoff decided for their two year anniversary they would give themselves a gift of photographs.  How perfect!  It means a lot to me.. spending time with couples in love.  Especially two years and going strong.

It was a cold and wet day at Elm Creek Park reserve in Maple Grove, but these two didn’t seem to notice. :)

We walked into the trees a little and found this wonderful off the beaten path area filled with bright yellow leaves and beautiful tress.  It’s funny - because fall in Minnesota is one of the busiest times for photographers, and sometimes I forget to stop photographing the beautiful stuff to stand still and enjoy it.  This small moment was exactly what I needed - kind of felt like up-north fall at it’s best.

Wishing you a happy two year anniversary Alison and Geoff!

Meg - senior pics

This is Meg!  We walked around French Park in Plymouth today and got some great senior pics…  beautiful evening, fabulous girl!

We spent a lot of time talking about the east coast… and our mutual love for Vermont.  I want to go there so badly!  Meg is going to look at colleges out there.  I’m so jealous! ;)

My sessions probably always feel so strange… because I shoot in alleyways, doorways, and random places.  This happened to be a cement wall just outside of the visitors center near the sidewalk.  Totally not a glamorous place, but the neutral background and light worked great with this outfit.  You’d never know these came from this setting!

Yep.  More tall grass shots.  But hey, can you blame me?  They always end up being my favorites! :)  Gorgeous setting and perfect light… but it was windy!  Meg was so patient with me - because just when we’d begin shooting the wind would blow and mess the hair up.  We had to keep stopping to fix it, and then wait for the wind to stop and then go go go!

My favorite of the day-  Meg is absolutely stunning!

It was so great to meet you Meg!  You were so very patient with the wind… and mosquito bites. :)  Good luck with your tennis season and with you first day of school tomorrow!

Kelsey - Senior Pics

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

This is Kelsey!  She was nice enough to drive all the way up from Rochester for her senior pictures… which will be neat because she’ll definitely have unique settings for her pics that will stand out from the rest of the class.  I’ve shot in this spot before - It’s fun and challenging to make the same setting unique for each shoot.

Doesn’t she have the sweetest smile?

Kelsey is really interested in Media Communications - which is really fun.  I can’t encourage you enough - if it’s what you love to do go for it!

Prepare yourself for copious amounts of ‘tall grass’ pictures.  They always end up being my favorites - it’s hard to beat that summer light and the beautiful timeless setting.

I like the mixture of urban and nature in these settings….

I loved her outfit choice.  I want that scarf for myself! ;)
